Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture

I gave birth to my son and would like to thank you for the acupuncture, which I know helped

What is Acupuncture?

With it's roots in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture is fast becoming recognised as an effective, safe and natural form of treatment. Consequently, the National Institute for Clinical Excellence have recommended that Acupuncture be offered throughout the NHS for lower back pain.

Acupuncture stimulates the body's healing energy by the insertion of very fine needles into acupuncture points on the body (nothing like those experienced during vaccinations/blood tests!). The needles are sterile one-use needles and most people experience only a slight dull sensation following needle insertion.

Who has Acupuncture?
Many people come to Acupuncture for help with specific symptoms or to relieve specific pains like osteoarthritis of the knee or migraine relief. Some use Acupuncture because they feel generally unwell but have no specific diagnosis. Others choose Acupuncture simply to enhance their feeling of wellbeing. Acupuncture is considered suitable for all ages, including babies and children. It can be used effectively alongside conventional medicine.

What can Acupuncture do for me?
Because Traditional Acupuncture aims to treat the whole person, rather than specific symptoms in isolation, it can be effective for a range of conditions. Treatment is aimed at the root cause of your condition as well as your main symptoms. This approach helps with resolving your problems and enhancing your feelings of wellbeing. You may notice other niggling problems resolve as your health improves.

What Can I Expect?
A thorough initial consultation and observation is carried out at your first treatment (60-75 mins.) with subsequent treatments lasting approximately 45 minutes. Needles are in place for 20 minutes during each treatment.

Most people experience sensations of relaxation and well-being during and after treatment. Typically people notice a lessening of their symptoms between treatments and rate of progress/resolution varies with the individual, their condition and lifestyle.
